Artist's Comments
This is my second sketch for my Martial Arts instructor. I hope he likes this one, although its a little complicated for a logo. My next sketch will probably be a simpler version of this..more T-shirt design friendly. Perhaps he'll be able to use this for something though.
I started with a reference for parts of the face, but then when it wasn't going where I wanted it to, I basically chucked the reference. In the end, I think it was a good decision. On a personal note, I think this is probably my favorite of all the sketches I've done up to this point. It was SO much fun and I've never been so pleased with the result of a sketch that started out..well...not so great. Even drawing in all the little scales, it didn't seem tedious...because it just felt good. I'll definately be doing more work with it...perhaps a colored version...maybe run it through photoshop... -mechanical pencil -sketchbook |
